Perfection is the Obstacle In Your Way of Living Your Best Life

Perfectionism is standing in between you and your dream life.

You aim for progress in your life, but it feels so elusive. Leaving you frustrated and hopeless about your future goals: building an audience, scaling your business, and getting into the best shape of your life.

When this happens each day starts to feel like you’re running on the treadmill of life, with your dream lifestyle never arriving:

• You never kick that bad habit

• You never get out of that job you don’t like

• You never take that family trip you’ve talked about

• You never get your finances where you’ve always wanted them

Perfectionism creates procrastination toward the life we want.

I started writing on Medium in June 2019. It would take me a week (or more) to publish an article, only to be read by 20 people. I would edit to perfectionism, which ultimately never allowed my ‘publish muscle’ to grow.

My progress in writing online was so slow it felt hopeless.

Which is why I want to share this with you.

Be obsessed with getting better than you were yesterday.

If I were starting to write online today, I would make editing the least of my concerns. I’d be willing to live with typos, imperfections, and bad writing. I’d focus on building my ‘publish muscle’ and never look back.

And obsessing over getting better daily can be applied to everything in life.

• Start working out 3 days a week, not 7.

• Start a reading habit with one book, not 50 in one year.

• Aim for as many healthy meals in a week, not all of them.

• Focus on generating your first dollar online, not the first $1,000.

Ditch perfect. Focus on progress.
