Here Are 2 Books That Helped Me Discover My Vision In My Mid 30's
Some books change the way you see the world forever.
--
I’d be a millionaire if I read these books before turning 25.
Life without a vision for the future is like wandering through a forest at night, hoping nothing dangerous finds you. Once you discover your vision, your path becomes crystal clear.
These two books spoke to me in ways I can’t explain and set me down a path I’ve never looked back on.
Obstacle Is The Way By Ryan Holiday
This book hit me with insight into my own life like a sledgehammer over my head.
Before reading Obstacle, I thought it would be cool to be a professional writer. Afterward, I told myself, “This is what I want to do.” The stories’ style, rhythm, and method of his writing were like finding something you’ve been looking for your whole life.
And that was only the second-best thing that came from this book. The lessons, the introduction to Stoicism, and the mentality to turn obstacles into strengths have fueled my life since I read this book, which will transform how you view everything that’s ever hard in life.
Shoe Dog by Phil Knight
Shoe Dog is an entertaining, inspirational, and masterful story of how a young Phil Knight created, built, and transformed a tiny startup into Nike.
I’ve read hundreds of books filled with thousands of paragraphs that are part of the process. Then, I came across a paragraph that would forever change me.
(He’s referencing leaving his full-time job to go build Nike full-time)
“I wanted what everyone wants. To be me, full-time.” — Phil Knight (in a conversation about going all-in on Nike)
“To be me, full-time.”
Bingo!
Every habit, practice, and system I’ve built in my life assist my goal of living my life being me full-time.
