Keeping our personal care battery charged is incredibly important.

It prevents us from burning out. It enhances our relationship, the quality of our work, and keeps us sane.

Here’s the template I use, which I stole from people much smarter than me.

Journal:

“I write entirely to find out what I am thinking, what I am looking at, what I see and what it means. What I want and what I fear.” — Joan Didion

Journaling keeps us from vomiting out our emotions. Journaling helps our self-awareness. Journaling provides the clarity we need to move forward. Every time you journal, you’re taking the time to clear out parts of your mind that need to be cleaned out.

Read:

“A room without books is like a body without a soul.” — Cicero

We all need wisdom if we are to stay positively charged. We can’t do it alone. Books provide that wisdom. Give us inspiration. And provide insight that allows us to grow in a healthy way.

Exercise:

“Take care of your body. It’s the only place you have to live.” — Jim Rohn

If you want a strong mind, a focused mind, and one with clarity, you’ll need a healthy body. A strong and healthy body is less likely to get sick, tired, and mentally exhausted. Break a sweat.

Take Walks:

“An early-morning walk is a blessing for the whole day.” — Henry David Thoreau

It may seem simple, even boring, but a long walk is powerful for your mood and mental state. It will help you see fresh new perspectives on things while getting your body moving, as well. Don’t neglect this easy and simple way to provide yourself with more clarity.
